Community Safety
At UPS, safety is a way of life. Through our partnerships, we are dedicated to helping communities improve their own safety and helping them to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural disasters.
Aidmatrix Foundation
Aidmatrix connects humanitarian relief organizations with people and businesses who are willing and able to donate hunger, medical and disaster relief supplies. Using supply-chain management technology and business processes used for competitive advantage in the for-profit world, Aidmatrix enables non-profits to gain the same efficiencies and benefits -- thus yielding more relief delivered to those who need it most. UPS works with Aidmatrix to expand and enhance its U.S. and global donations- and transportation-management solutions to expedite the delivery of donations to relief agencies worldwide. American Red Cross
Since its founding in 1881 by Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the
nation’s premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide network that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of disaster and war, the American Red Cross distinguishes itself by aiding victims of devastating natural disasters and preparing people in first aid, safety and disaster preparedness. UPS support helps make this possible, while working with the Red Cross to streamline supply distribution, providing logistics expertise and tracking technology, as well as skills-based and hands-on volunteerism. Boys & Girls Club of America
Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) offers programs that promote and enhance the development of youth, enabling them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The UPS Foundation has partnered with BGCA on a national program to teach safe driving techniques to teens – UPS Road CodeSM. This program is based in large part on the same safety training used with UPS’s own drivers.
CARE
CARE is a leading humanitarian organization that fights global poverty, with a focus on empowering girls and women. UPS has worked with CARE for more than 15 years, contributing more than $1 million in direct grants, providing significant in-kind shipping support, and contributing hundreds of hours of skills-based and hands-on volunteerism. UPS’ support has helped expand CARE’s Emergency Transportation Shipping Fund and enhance its suite of technology solutions and logistics, ensuring that millions of people in need around the world are helped as efficiently and effectively as possible. Gifts in Kind International
Ranked by Forbes Magazine as one of the nation’s best-managed charities in America, Gifts In Kind International is dedicated to helping people in need and communities by distributing new corporate product donations—including books, toys, personal care products and clothing, building supplies, computers and other technology products, and much more—to qualified nonprofit organizations. A partnership between the UPS Foundation and Gifts In Kind International was formed to support inventory system enhancements that will link over fifty warehouses and national shipping partners to the Gifts In Kind International network resulting in increased disaster relief supply visibility. UNICEF
UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in over 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States. UPS has been a strong supporter for over 10 years of UNICEF’s work in emergency preparedness and relief efforts, girls’ education, child protection and UNICEF’s “School-in-a-Box,” which contains classroom supplies for a teacher and up to 80 students to continue their education even after disaster strikes.
