Environmental Sustainability
With the movement of nearly 16 million packages each day by land, air and ocean, protecting the environment is essential to our long-term sustainability efforts. We invest in areas linked to the company's environmental initiatives, expertise and concerns, including:

- Education and awareness
- Research
We look for opportunities to provide both financial and employee volunteer support to our environmental partners. We support organizations around the world;local grants are recommended by UPS employee committees, reaffirming the belief that global issues are sometimes best solved with local solutions.
Global Forestry Initiative
Preserving the world's forests is critical to reducing carbon, combating climate change and protecting the planet's atmosphere. That is why we launched a global forestry initiative to plant, protect and preserve trees in urban and rural areas in the United States and around the world.
We are collaborating with some of the world's leading environmental organizations including the Nature Conservancy to manage and preserve forests in the United States, Belgium, Canada, Brazil and China. Together with our partners, we are planting nearly half a million trees and protecting forests from the Boreal of Canada to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil - the equivalent of taking one million cars off the road.
