Humanitarian Relief

We extend our logistics expertise, transportation assets and global network to assist our global partners in disaster preparedness, relief and recovery efforts.

Through our humanitarian relief program, we are able to provide support in all phases of a humanitarian crisis:

Disaster Preparedness and Resiliency

We provide funding, personnel, training and other resources in order to help equip global communities and the world's leading humanitarian organizations to better demonstrate disaster preparedness and resiliency.

Urgent Humanitarian Relief for Sudden Onset Disasters

When disaster strikes, we collaborate with our partner organizations to support urgent response relief efforts around the world.

Post-Crisis Recovery

Through continued collaboration with our partners, we are able to provide resources and expertise that helps disaster-stricken areas recover and rebuild.

As with all of our charitable giving, our contributions are multi-faceted and include:

In-Kind Disaster Relief Assistance

By leveraging our worldwide network technology and expertise, UPS business units all over the world provide relief assistance to local communities during sudden onset disasters.

Skill-Based Volunteering

We have collaborated with the World Food Programme to create Logistics Emergency Teams (LETs), team of trained UPS logistics experts. Based all over the world, these UPSers are deployed within 48 hours to support our humanitarian relief partners in times of crisis. Similarly, we have partnered with the American Red Cross to establish Logistics Action Teams (LATs), a group of UPS logistics experts based in the United States who provide support during times of domestic crisis.

Partnering with Humanitarian Relief Organizations

Our support focuses on helping our partners develop models for responding effectively and efficiently when devastating disasters strike, in order to minimize human suffering and speed economic recovery. Our investments include helping build disaster-response capacity through supply chain management and logistics; strengthening transportation, warehousing and distribution systems; and achieving economies of scale in the procurement of supplies.

Thought Leadership

We are deeply committed to strengthening global humanitarian relief efforts. Through active engagement with the World Economic Forum, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development Interaction, and the Business Civic Leadership Center, among others, we are doing our part to improve the world's ability to respond to disasters.
